The Josep Pla Foundation is the centre of reference to find out all about the life and work of the writer, Josep Pla (1897-1981).
The foundation is located in the house where Josep Pla was born and the house next-door, which can be found at numbers 49 and 51, in Nou de Palafrugell road. The house has a ground floor and two storeys. Just south of the two houses, there was a shared well, which still exists to this day, and a patio with views of the old vegetable gardens in Jonama. These features were immortalised by Josep Pla in his book “El Quadern Gris”. The writer’s family rented this house until 1904, after which they moved into the house that had been built on Sol road, which is now known as Torres i Jonama road.
Founded in 1973, the Josep Pla Foundation is home to the author’s private library. Its objective is to study and disseminate the writer’s legacy, through cultural initiatives and activities for all types of public.
