Port Bo and Les Voltes are currently a tourist attraction where you can stroll or have a drink during the summer months.
Port Bo served as a fishing and smuggling port during the 18th and 19th centuries, a period when local products such as coral, wheat, wine, and cork were shipped to ports in Catalonia, France, and Italy.
Today, it is one of the most distinctive coves in Calella de Palafrugell, thanks to the boats scattered across the sand and the arched structures that line the shore.
Every first Saturday in July, Calella’s popular habanera singing festival takes place, transforming the beach into a spectacular venue for listening to some of the most seafaring sounds one can imagine, sung by the sea.
In the area around Port Bo, the original street layout has been preserved. The older section of the arcades dates from the 19th century, and the newer section from the 1950s.
The Les Voltes Complex is included in the Inventory of Architectural Heritage of Catalonia.
They are of great interest as an example of vernacular architecture. In the past, they were used for fish auctions, for mending nets, as a place for fishermen to keep watch and socialize, and more.
Today, they are a tourist attraction where visitors can stroll or have a drink during the summer months.
