This building used to be where the Sant Pere Guild of Fishermen dyed their nets. It can be found in Voltes de Calella road and was probably built in the 18th century.
In 1986, when it had not been used for its original purpose for a long time, the guild handed the building over to the Town Hall for public use, which is when the tourist office was opened.
In 2007 and 2009, rehabilitation work was carried out to renovate the tourist office and an interpretation centre was added, giving information about the guild, fishing in Calella and the municipality’s maritime heritage. This work was carried out with the support of the Catalan Regional Government.
On the ground floor, we can find out about the process of dying the nets, which was a way to preserve them for longer. On the first floor, there is an introduction about the solidarity among Calella’s fishermen and guilds, and an explanation of their religious, social and professional functions.
