The sardana is a popular Catalan dance considered the national dance of Catalonia. As we currently know it, the dance dates back to the middle of the 19th century. Based on the form of the dance, we can date its origins back to the pre-Roman era.
During the summer months you can hear and watch the sardanes regularly both in Palafrugell as well as in the beach towns.
