A summary of the history of recreational and association activity in Palafrugell: from its origins until the Centre became an iconic entity open to everyone
Don’t leave until you’ve stopped by the historic Centre Fraternal building built in 1878, located in Nova Square. You can admire the building’s set of large windows and balcony from the square itself.
The building housed different coffee shops and casinos, until 1897 when the Society acquired it in its entirety and made the necessary reforms to settle there permanently in 1898.
It has the honour of housing Palafrugell’s first public library (opened in 1905), although it can now only be visited by request.
Different activities are organised during the year such as theatre, talks, afternoon dances, costume balls for carnival and the traditional Catalan Christmas Bingo.
